What should I wear to the classes?

Comfortable clothes are best. Clogging is an aerobic activity, so be prepared to sweat. Many people wear T-shirts, shorts, or other gym clothes.

What kind of shoes should I wear?

After the first month, it is recommended that you wear clogging shoes so you can master the sound of your taps.  For the first month, flat-soled shoes or tennis shoes are best.

Do I have to perform?

Performances are optional.  Some people elect to take the class just for the exercise, although most prefer to participate in the performances.

The beginner class usually starts performing after 2-3 months of lessons.

How often are performances scheduled?

Fall and spring are our busiest times, and we often perform most Friday nights and some Saturdays.  In addition to the Relay for Life events and Downtown Getdowns, and FSU events we also perform at many school and church carnivals and other fundraising events.  Participation at the performances is not required; we understand that people have other commitments.

What do I wear to performances?

Most of our uniforms consist of a Mountain Dew t-shirt (white, black or garnet) with black or tan pants or jeans.  We will let you know which uniform we will be wearing prior to each performance.  So you are not burdened with one large expense, we usually order one color of uniform shirt at a time.

Can I stay after the beginning class and watch the intermediate/advanced class?

Yes, all classes run on Wednesday nights. Anyone is welcome to stay for any of the two classes.

How long is a session?

Unlike other dance instruction, clogging is not conducted in “sessions.”  The beginner class will stay in the beginner class for one year.  When the next beginner class starts, the current beginners will move into the intermediate class.  Of course, if you choose to learn routines on your own by watching the DVD or staying for the later classes, you can move into the intermediate or advanced class more quickly.

What is the cost?

$25 a month.
